Ia ingin Harry mendapatkan memori Horace. Memori tersebut bisa mengungkap masa lalu Tom Riddle alias Lord Voldermort. Dumbledore juga mengajak Harry untuk mencari jiwa Lord Voldermort. Rupanya sebelum 'musnah' Voldermort sempat membelah jiwanya menjadi tujuh. Sementara Harry sibuk dengan petualangannya merayu Profesor Horace dan mencari jiwa-jiwa Voldermort, di sisi lain musuhnya Draco Malfoy (Tom Felton) juga punya sebuah misi. Malfoy menjalankan misinya itu dibantu Profesor Snape (Alan Rickman). Pada film ke-6 ini, penonton tidak hanya disajikan adegan-adegan yang membosankan seperti film ke-5 Harry Potter yang minim akan adegan action dan visual efek. Cukup banyak adegan yang membuat penonton seolah-olah terbawa ke dalam dunia sihir Harry Potter. Tidak itu saja, jalan cerita pada film ini juga berkembang ke kehidupan percintaan Harry dan sahabat-sahabatnya. Konflik-konflik tentang percintaan pun muncul sebagai penyegaran selagi teka-teki masa lalu Voldemort belum terungkap.
