Rupanya sebelum 'musnah' Voldermort sempat membelah jiwanya menjadi tujuh. Sementara Harry sibuk dengan petualangannya merayu Profesor Horace dan mencari jiwa-jiwa Voldermort, di sisi lain musuhnya Draco Malfoy (Tom Felton) juga punya sebuah misi. Malfoy menjalankan misinya itu dibantu Profesor Snape (Alan Rickman). Pada film ke-6 ini, penonton tidak hanya disajikan adegan-adegan yang membosankan seperti film ke-5 Harry Potter yang minim akan adegan action dan visual efek. Cukup banyak adegan yang membuat penonton seolah-olah terbawa ke dalam dunia sihir Harry Potter. Tidak itu saja, jalan cerita pada film ini juga berkembang ke kehidupan percintaan Harry dan sahabat-sahabatnya. Konflik-konflik tentang percintaan pun muncul sebagai penyegaran selagi teka-teki masa lalu Voldemort belum terungkap.
